Guiding authentic musical expression from studio to stage.
Founder of The Poynt Studios in NYC and leader of The Poynt, I mentor fellow musicians with authentic credibility earned through decades of walking this same creative path—helping artists discover and courageously express their true voice.
The Poynt Studios
Creative Mentor & Producer
Having lived on both sides of the studio experience, I've built The Poynt Studios around what I know artists truly need: complete creative freedom, flawless technical execution, and someone who understands the vulnerability of the creative process. I provide the expertise and support while protecting the essential space for authentic expression to flourish.
The Poynt
Founding Member & Musical Leader
My extensive background as guitarist and vocalist, with multiple album releases including our forthcoming release "Under Destruction" provides the authentic foundation for my mentorship approach. Having lived through countless studio sessions, creative breakthroughs, and production challenges, I guide artists with the hard-earned insight that only comes from walking this path myself.
Musical Philosophy
Authentic Creative Leadership
The most powerful music comes from artists who feel completely free to explore their authentic voice without compromise. My philosophy is straightforward: provide the technical excellence and creative support, eliminate barriers, and protect the space where genuine artistry naturally emerges. I don't shape an artist's sound—I create conditions where their true voice can flourish.
Unlocking math success using athletic-based coaching principles.
Through MathGains, I coach students using fitness-inspired methods that treat mathematics like athletic training—transforming math anxiety into authentic confidence and lasting achievement.
MathGains: Mathematical Empowerment Coaching
Founder & Math Education Innovator
Every student possesses mathematical potential waiting to be unlocked. MathGains reveals these hidden strengths through personalized coaching that treats mathematics like athletic training—building genuine confidence by helping students discover they were mathematically capable all along.
Mathematics as Athletic Training
Coaching a Growth Mindset
I approach mathematics education like personal fitness training. Just as fitness coaches design personalized workout plans to build physical strength, I create customized math training programs that build mathematical confidence. Every student starts from a different place with unique learning styles—I identify their natural strengths and use them as the foundation to develop capabilities they never knew they had.
Transforming Mathematical Mindsets
Revealing Hidden Potential
The most powerful moments happen when students shift from 'I'm not a math person' to recognizing their mathematical potential. My coaching approach mirrors athletic training—I don't create new abilities, I reveal existing strengths and provide the structured support needed for authentic mathematical confidence to emerge.
Investigating how family systems shape educational outcomes.
As a PhD candidate in Educational Psychology, I study how family strengths and social connections impact student achievement, developing interventions that strengthen school-community partnerships and enhance learning outcomes.
Research Focus
Educational Psychology (PhD expected 2029)
I research the impact of school-supported adult learning and parent engagement programs on newcomer families' social capital development and subsequent student outcomes. My work identifies best practices for creating welcoming, resource-rich environments that strengthen both family capacity and academic achievement.
Graduate Research Assistant
Quantitative Research & Community Studies
I conduct statistical research using R programming to study how adult learning opportunities affect parent engagement and student outcomes across multiple populations, specializing in newcomer family dynamics. I collaborate on research publications and comprehensive reports that help schools design effective support programs.
Research-Practice Integration
Evidence-Based Educational Leadership
My doctoral research on newcomer family dynamics directly informs my educational leadership practice. Understanding how adult learning opportunities and parent engagement build social capital helps me design more effective programs that strengthen family capacity and improve student outcomes through existing community assets.
About
My Story
Looking back, my career reads like separate chapters that somehow became one story.
Chapter one began with guitar strings and dreams. The Poynt wasn't just a band—we were artists releasing albums, touring the East Coast, chasing that perfect sound. But somewhere between performances, I realized my real passion wasn't just making music, but helping others find their voice. The Poynt Studios became my way of doing exactly that for NYC artists.
Chapter two started accidentally. Tutoring classmates in college felt natural, almost effortless. Watching someone finally 'get it'—that moment when confusion transforms into confidence—became addictive. Before I knew it, I was teaching full-time, then leading as Assistant Principal for over 400 community members.
Chapter three emerged from frustration. Too many brilliant students believed they 'weren't math people.' MathGains was born from rebellion against this myth—treating mathematics like athletic training, building 'mathematical muscles' through coaching that meets students where they are.
Chapter four demanded answers. Years of educational experiences revealed patterns I couldn't ignore. Why do some students thrive while others struggle? This question launched my doctoral research in Educational Psychology, investigating how family systems and social capital shape outcomes. The research isn't academic theory—it's the foundation for everything I do.
These chapters aren't separate stories—they're movements in the same symphony. Each informs the others, creating harmonies I never could have planned. Nothing worthwhile comes easily, but that's what makes meaningful achievements so powerful. I help others through genuine connection, showing them they already have everything they need to succeed. My role is nurturing existing potential, not creating dependency, guided by one truth: 'Investing in yourself will always yield the highest return.'
Beyond the Professional
The story doesn't end when I leave the office. Physical activity grounds everything I do—four weekly workouts and outdoor runs that serve as both therapy and mental clarity. Beyond fitness, my fascination with vintage musical equipment runs deeper than collecting; each piece holds musical history that directly shapes my creative process. Similarly, while I game less now, vintage soundtracks remain a constant inspiration—those early composers worked miracles within constraints that would paralyze modern creators. These pursuits aren't accidental; they're intentional practices that keep me connected to what brings genuine joy, making me more effective at helping others find theirs.
Ultimate Vision
The impact I want to leave is simple: helping others realize they were capable all along. This vision drives everything—from leading schools and coaching students to mentoring artists and conducting research. While the environments change, the core principle remains: people don't need fixing; they need the right support to unlock potential that was always there. That's the lasting change worth pursuing.
